TWD - Mrs. Vogel's Scherben

This weeks selection for Tuesdays with Dorie is Mrs. Vogel's Scherben and they were chosen by Teanna of Spork or Foon. Scherben are cookies that are made from a simple dough that is rolled very thin, cut into strips and then deep fried. They are then dusted first with a cinnamon sugar mixture and then confections' sugar. Dorie describes them as snowballs or snowflakes.

I love the tradition of the cookies but overall I think that they tasted pretty bland. Be sure to go over to the Tuesdays with Dorie website and see what all the other bakers there did this week.

I'm sorry these didn't knock your socks off. I agree, they were a little bland without the sugar. They look beautiful.

I want your little spider.

I have wanted one for so long I can't remember.

I didn't make these, but I did post something fun.

I'm sorry you didn't like these, but I am so glad that you fried along with me this week! Thanks so much!

I think the key to these is being heavy handed with the cinnamon sugar. I had to practically scrape it off my teeth afterward. Of course I'm exaggerating there, but, I did add a lot of cinnamon sugar...I just couldn't help myself!

Sorry that you didn't go over the moon for these, but, how I do love the ruffly edges.:)

Yes, they were pretty bland, until the sugar/cinnamon etc was added. Yours do look tasty, though.

The best ones were at the bottom of the bag with all the cinnamon/sugar!
